Portraits

This past month, I made a portrait of my aunt as a gift for her birthday; I used a picture and drew the portrait using the gride method.  The self portrait was made from looking in the miror during a drawing class I took a few months ago.   I do enjoy drawing portraits and will do some more, do let me know what you think.  Thanks!

Chine Colle

This printing process is a great way to add color to a print.  The name is French; the term ‘chine’ comes from thin paper and ‘colle’ is to glue.  In this process, thin paper in added to an inked plate during the printing process.  Below are pictures of my chine colle prints; I added a blue sky to my Eiffel Tower prints!

I started with a piece of Japanese paper
I glued blue tissue paper to the Japanese paper
More pictures of the glued tissue paper below

Inking the plate
Hand pressed
Voila!  Eiffel Tower under a blue sky
The whole series.  More chine colle prints to come....
